Our Kaupapa

Ngā Ringa Whakahaere o te Iwi Māori (“NRW”) is a national organisation based on the Kaupapa of promoting the benefits of Māori traditional Health and Healing practices for present and future generations.  This mahi centres on improving health outcomes for Māori by ensuring whānau have access to traditional Health and Healing services that meet an agreed set of delivery standards.  Recognition is given to the cornerstones of:

•    Taha – Hinengaro
(the power of the mind and its emotions)

•    Taha – Tinana
(the body and energy force of the person)

•    Taha – Wairua; and
    (the spiritual aspect of life)

•    Whanaungatanga
(the inter-relationship between ourselves and the environment)

As a national collective of affiliated practitioners and supporters, Ngā Ringa Whakahaere o te Iwi Māori has been established to provide a unified voice for Māori traditional Health and Healing.  It’s purpose is to:

Enhance the capacity of Māori traditional Health and Healing practitioners to deliver quality services
Improve health outcomes for Māori whether Whānau, Hapu or Iwi
Strengthen Māori rangatiratanga over the Health and Healing process; and
Uphold The Treaty Of Waitangi

NRW is a collective of registered Members governed by their appointed Executive (Directors) Committee and Taumata Kaumātua, whose roles are defined in the 2003 Constitution
