Welcome to Nga Ringa Whakahaere o te Iwi Māori.
We are an independent national organisation of Māori Traditional Health, Healing and Rongoa Practitioners.
As a national collective of affiliated practitioners and supporters, our purpose is;
- to be the principal vehicle for bringing together the various practitioners from around the country.
- to be the authoritative voice regarding matters pertaining to Māori Traditional Health, Healing and Rongoa.
History
Nga Ringa Whakahaere o te Iwi Māori ("NRW") began in response to a moemoea set forth by Healers and Rongoa Practitioners at a hui in Wellington.
The moemoea was to create a National Body who could speak on their behalf.
NRW was formalised in 1993 as an Incorporated Society. An Executive team has over the years assisted to co-ordinate this forum and progress the initiatives agreed by participating members.
At present the organisation is governed by the current Executive (Directors) Committee whose priorities remain as the following;
- Building and maintaining the affiliation of Providers.
- Ensuring quality assurance for affiliated service Providers.
- To develop and implement growth strategies that ensure continued workforce development for affiliated Providers and future generations.
